NAPSTER UP AND RUNNING
3/25/00 - Due to communication between students and administration, Napster is up in running in many schools again. Indiana University, Northern Arizona University, Gannon University, UC Santa Cruz, SUNY at Albany, and USC have all unblocked the restriction on Napster usage in the past month. Although this is a victory in some sorts, SAUC is still striving to inform, educate and communicate with the universities in order to bring the list to zero. If your university is not on the list of schools that are banned, then SAUC invites you to do a Napster search for an artist named Matthew Sturm and his great song, Outside Dreams, among others. Matthew is a great up and coming artist from the Chicagoland area who sounds much like a mix between Elliott Smith and The Counting Crows. With the Networking 2000 conference less than a week away, and the Internet Draft by Indiana University to be available on the 11th of April, hopefully more schools will catch on and learn that banning Napster does nothing in order to promote responsibility and copyright awareness on college campuses. Keep on signing the petition and after that, register to vote! Petition count: 14,464
